Fair Week

Fair Week!  A busy week of walking, waiting, sitting, eating, looking around, standing, learning, rushing, celebrating - a special week for the children.
This year, Hannah decided to raise Embdem geese to show.  These are market geese, so they are competing for the birds with the most meat.  It's hard to judge geese with all the down feathers they have.
Her goose was very well behaved at the judging table.
Meanwhile, while Hannah was waiting to show her goose, the boys took up a game of miniature golf.
Samuel scored two holes in one.  He won an extra free game.  He was kind enough to pass his free game onto Eli, so he could play too.
The first day at the fair was beautiful, so we decided to let the kids ride rides.  The little guys are getting big and are venturing to the "big" rides.  Eli's first ride of the day was Zero Gravity!  This was the first time I was ever worried about one of my children on a ride.
He had a blast, and rode it over and over and over again!  Samuel even rode!
Such big brave boys!

Of course, going to the fair means you must ride the slide.  Samuel is such a sweet big brother.

Sitting around waiting on little ones riding, provides lots of opportunities to play with strange little bugs.

Hannah and Noah also showed rabbits.
The judges not only evaluate the rabbits, they educate the children as well.
Hannah's Holland Lop cam in first place in her class and second as Best of Breed.
  Waiting and watching.
Noah showed his rabbit just in time for rain.

On our list of future animals.....Baby Doll Sheep.  They are so little and cute!
The last day of fair week, is auction day.  Samuel did a great job writing down the buyers and amounts they paid for animals

The grand finale of fair week, is getting to pick out a special treat!

It would be nice to get a normal smile from this child.

I think we are still recovering from our exciting week at the fair.

Look What We Made

Hannah, Noah and I took a pile of wood and turned it into......
this, and then........
this. We also built three wire rabbit cages.
The rabbitry is now up and running. It is nice to have a bit of organization with most of the rabbits in the same area. This rabbit stand can potentially fit 16 rabbit cages. Of course, Hannah is ready to fill it to max capacity. Actually, we have 16 rabbits...yikes!
Plastic tubs have been placed under the bottom cages to collect manure, which is great for the garden.

Maybe we should clean the mess around our rabbit stand.

Table saws and drills don't scare this gal.
